You can send an email, an instant message (IM), or a text message via Yahoo Mail (YM) for free via Yahoo.com. You can also share documents and/or photos, make a phone call, and follow the teachers’ activities! Yahoo has a system of sharing information with the contacts you select; it’s called making a “connection.” If you connect with your teacher, then you will be able to see when she logs on to her computer. Likewise, she will be able to see when you are online. Of course, there are ways to set up various filters to adjust who sees you online and when. I will save our chat logs and may use some of them for error analysis in the class, so monitor your language.

1) Go to the VOXOPOP Web site and listen to Mrs. Rogers' introduction. 2) Become a member of our TalkGroup, Intermediate Listening. 3) Record a message to introduce yourself. 4) Listen to your classmates' introductions and respond. Then we will add another recording of ourselves reading a script emphasizing reduced speech.

I created surveys to obtain your feedback on the course's listening sites and the entire course of instruction. You will receive the survey electronically in an email or you may find the link on the wiki. Respond to the survey online by clicking on the answer choices. There will also be some boxes to fill in your comments, as needed. After everyone has completed the survey, the teacher will share the results. |

To learn vocabulary and expressions and improve your pronunciation |
You will need to study the list of vocabulary, as well as listen to the pronunciation of the words multiple times. |
The vocabulary page is a collaborative effort involving the students and the teachers input. Students will be expected to write sentences for each word and add it to the Glossary Page. In addition, students are expected to listen to Mrs. Rogers' audio files to hear the pronunciation of the words.
The words have been selected on the topic of computer-assisted learning, the tasks related to the learning activities, as well as, the information covered in listening programs such as National Public Radio (NPR). |

You will need to listen to the various audio links and prepare for discussions and tests. |
These listening sites were selected by myself and other TESOL teachers, as being top rated for learning English. Students will use visit these links during specific class activities for discussion, as well as, during independent listening time set aside for student exploration. You will also take a survey towards the end of the course to select your favorite one, so make sure you visit all the sites on the Listening Tools page. |

To learn how to embed HTML code of a YouTube video, cut and paste a hyperlink to another Web site, and/or write content on this wiki.

The teacher will need to grant you "writer privileges" so that you can login and write/add content to the wiki. |
Students will learn how to write content on this wiki using the tool bar. For the student project, you will use the Training Manual page to learn how to embed HTML code or add a link to another site. You may select YouTube videos, photos, interesting images, or simply links to a listening site. Post your mini-project to the Students' Page.
